Routes from every side of Knox County
Knox County is big, so the best route depends on where the job is. West Knox (Farragut, Hardin Valley, Karns, Cedar Bluff): take Pellissippi Parkway (TN-162 to I-140) south across the river to Alcoa Highway. It skips downtown entirely. Central and South Knoxville: US-129 (Alcoa Highway) south past the airport into Maryville. North Knox (Powell, Halls, Fountain City): I-75 or I-275 to I-40, then Alcoa Highway south. East Knox (Corryton, Strawberry Plains, Carter): I-40 west to Alcoa Highway. Most Knox County job sites are 20 to 35 minutes from our gate. We're open 7 AM to 5 PM weekdays and 8 AM to noon Saturday.
What Knox County will and won't take
Knox County convenience centers are set up for household trash and recycling. They do not accept concrete, asphalt, or brick. That leaves private construction and demolition landfills and roll-off dumpster companies, which charge by the ton or by the container. Call them for current rates. Concrete is the material that breaks the dumpster model: a roll-off can hit its weight limit long before it looks full. The Blount County Landfill is not much help for Knox haulers either, since it may turn away trucks from outside Blount County. Our yard takes clean concrete, asphalt, brick, block, and natural stone free from any county, with no scale.
Knox County growth and the concrete it produces
West Knox has been adding subdivisions and commercial buildouts for years, and every one of them produces concrete: overpours, washout chunks, curb and sidewalk rework, and pavement cut for utility taps. Older parts of the county produce the other half of the stream: driveway and foundation replacements, basement slabs, and garage floors pulled during remodels. Road and utility crews bring broken pavement and millings. All of that drops free when it's clean. Rebar and wire mesh are fine. Wood forms, trash, drywall, and roofing are not accepted. RCA for Knox County jobs
We crush incoming concrete into recycled concrete aggregate and sell it back to contractors. RCA crusher run (1 inch minus with fines) compacts hard for driveways, building pads, and road base. RCA #57 (clean 3/4 to 1 inch, no fines) is for drainage behind walls and in French drains. On a West Knox subdivision or a commercial pad, that means the truck that hauls out the broken concrete can come back with base instead of running empty.
